Below, please find the answers to commonly asked questions regarding Lincoln City Parks & Recreation programs, facilities, and properties.

Parks & Recreation General

What services does Lincoln City Parks & Recreation provide for the youth, teens, adult, and senior groups?

LCP&R provides many opportunities for activities and services designed to promote the health and wellness of all members of our community. We have classes, facilities, open spaces, parks, events, programming, and sports that are open to all. From yoga, water fitness classes, workout facilties, sports teams, after school programming, concerts, community events, and gardening, LCP&R has something for everyone.​

Community Center, Aquatics, & Recreation Programs

Is the Lincoln City Community Center available for the general public?

Our facilities are available for members of our community and visitors alike with a drop-in fee or Lincoln City Community Center membership. All are welcome! Visit our LC Community Center webpage for more information.

Do I have to live in Lincoln City to purchase a membership to the Lincoln City Community Center?

You can purchase a membership no matter where you live! We offer memberships for anyone who wishes to participate. Those who live inside the city tax district receive a discount on memberships. All others can join at our regular price! Visit our LC Community Center webpage​ for more information.

Am I eligible for a free membership at the Lincoln City Community Center through my insurance?

The Lincoln City Community Center currently offers five Medicare Fitness Programs, including Aaptiv Advantage, One Pass, Renew Active, Silver & Fit, and Silver Sneakers. To find out if you are eligible, please contact your insurance provider. After confirming eligibility, stop by the front desk at the Lincoln City Community Center to sign up.

Can I rent a room or amenity at the Lincoln City Community Center for my event?

Are the fitness classes offered by the Lincoln City Community Center extra?

All of our fitness classes are included in a membership scan or drop-in fee.

Can I bring a friend to a fitness class?

Yes we are open to the public and they are welcome to attend for a drop-in fee.

Where can I find schedules for fitness classes, the gym, and the pool?

When is the best time for lap swimming if I need my own lane?

Generally, 1-3pm on Mon-Fri are the slowest in the lap pool. Visit our Aquatics webpage for more information.

When is the diving board open?

The diving board, rope swing, and slide are open during our Recreational (Rec) Swims. Visit our Aquatics webpage for more information.

Do caregivers have to pay as well?

As long as the caregiver actively stays with their client to assist their client in recreation, they do not need to pay. If the caregiver does not stay with the client and wants to recreate on their own, they need to pay admission.

Do you offer swimming lessons at the Lincoln City Community Center?

Our swimming lessons program is greatly based on our staffing levels. We are working on expanding the program during the school year, but currently our swimming lessons are minimal during the summer season.

Does the Lincoln City Community Center have a sauna?

No, but we do have a hot tub!

What youth sports leagues do you offer?

Spring: Soccer ages 5-14yrs old and Middle School Track & Field

Fall: Volleyball grades 3rd-6th, Middle School Cross County, & Soccer ages 5-14yrs old

Winter: Basketball grades 1st-6th

Do you offer scholarships or financial assistance?

Parks & Open Spaces

Are the parks and open spaces available for the general public?

Yes, our parks and open spaces are open to the public. Visit our Parks, Trails, & Beach Accesses webpage for more information.

Is a new park being built in Lincoln City?

Yes! Info on recent development on our new park can be found on our Schooner Creek Discovery Park webpage or call 541-996-1224. We are excited to build this park for our community!

When are we going to rebuild the playground at Regatta Park?

The design phase for rebuilding the Regatta Park playground is at 90% completion. Construction has been put on hold for the time being, as we finish Schooner Creek Discovery Park, but we are hoping to begin rebuilding the playground in FY 2027-2028.

Are there community gardens in town?

Garden beds are available at the Oceanlake and Taft Community Gardens. Beds may be rented by contacting 541-996-1262. More information about the gardens can be found on our Parks webpage.

Are park amenities available to rent for my event?

Is there a charge for using a beach wheelchair? How can I rent one?

There is no charge; however, we do ask for a credit card to be put on file for security. Visit our Accessibility webpage for more information.

When are the Mobi-mats available on the beaches?

Mobi-mats are installed Memorial Day through Labor Day.

How often do you clean the public restrooms in parks and public spaces?

We clean all restrooms daily.

How often do you mow parks and public spaces?

During the growing season, we mow once a week. During the winter, we mow as needed.

How often do you trim the open spaces and parks?

We have a system where we work from south to north through town on a weekly basis. Once we complete going through the open spaces, we start over.

Why are there no garbage cans located at the open spaces?

Our public must follow the seven principles of Leave No Trace, which states that the public packs out what they pack in.

Can I use a metal detector in the parks or along the trails?

Use of a metal detector is prohibited in city parks and open spaces, unless such use is pursuant to a permit issued by the Director of Parks and Recreation and/or such use is specifically authorized in a designated area.

Can I ride my bike on the trails?

No, biking is currently not permitted on trails.

Can we have fires on the beach?

Oregon Park & Recreation Department regulates fires on Oregon beaches. Beach campfires may be started on open sand, away from driftwood or vegetation. Check online for seasonal fire restrictions. Do not burn driftwood, paper, plastic, or glass products. Always extinguish fire with water, not sand. Do not bury it! Pou water around the base of the fire pit, not directly on hot coals.

Where is the RV dump station located?

It is located at the Inlet Ave public parking lot next to Schooner Creek Discovery Park. At this time, it is closed for maintenance.

Is camping in the parks allowed?

No, camping is not permitted in our parks.

Are dogs allowed in parks and open spaces?

Except for designated off-leash areas (e.g. the Dog Park), domesticated animals must be on a leash at all times when on City park or open space properties. Domesticated animals are prohibited from playground areas, sports fields, sports courts, ponds, streams, and wetland areas. Owners are responsible for the immediate removal of their animal's fecal matter.

Why is the NW 15th St beach access closed at different times of the year?

The NW 15th St beach access is closed to driving from May 1st to September 30th, under Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) rules.

Where do you hide the glass floats?

The Finders Keepers program is managed by Explore Lincoln City. More information can be found on the Finders Keepers webpage.

If I see any illegal activity, to whom should I report it?

In case of emergency, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 5441-994-3636.
